If you feel like it’s been way too long since you’ve gotten together with your best friends, it might be time to plan a girls’ weekend. Going on vacation with your girlfriends can be a great way to catch up and have some fun together, and it can provide the perfect excuse to take a much-needed break from your daily routine. Now all you need is some girlfriends’ getaway ideas!
However, vacations don’t plan themselves. Unless you’re willing to pay for a travel agent to take care of the details for you, you’ll need to put a little time and effort into the logistics of your trip. Fortunately, it isn’t too hard to plan an amazing getaway for you and your girlfriends. Not sure how to make it happen? Here’s what you’ll need to do:
Budget
First thing’s first – you need to figure out who’s going and what kind of money you’re comfortable spending on your trip. These two important details are going to guide most of your decisions down the road, so it’s important to establish this up front. Planning a girls’ weekend for a group of 20 is an entirely different animal than coordinating a quick trip for 4, and knowing how much each of you are willing to spend upfront will eliminate potential conflict or confusion later on.
Destination
Once you know who’s going and what your budget looks like, you need to figure out where you’re going to go. Consider the ways you’ll want to spend your time. Is the goal of the trip to relax? To party and experience the local nightlife? To explore and experience a different culture? Knowing what you want to do – and what you want to avoid – will guide your decision here. If you want to spend a couple of days chilling by the pool, New York City probably won’t fit the bill. Likewise, if you’re looking for nightlife, you won’t want to book the bed and breakfast in the sleepy seaside town.
Accommodations
Speaking of bed and breakfasts, the next thing you’ll need to determine is where you’ll stay. Do you all want to return to separate hotel rooms at the end of the day, or does the idea of splitting a cabin or sharing an Airbnb sound like fun? From hotel suites with skyline views to intimate bed and breakfasts and everything in between, you’ll have lots of options to consider, so talk it through and see what makes the most sense for you and your group.
Make a plan for fun
The last thing you’ll need to think about before embarking on your girls’ trip is what you’ll do while you’re there. Are there any big must-do activities you need to plan for? Shows you want to catch? Restaurants you’re dying to try? You don’t have to work out all the details in advance, but having a general idea of how you’ll spend your time will keep everyone happy and having fun!
While it’s hard to have a bad time when you’re with your best girlfriends, a little planning and prep work can go a long way when it comes to planning a girls’ weekend away. Consider your guest list, your budget, your destination, your accommodations and your plans while you’re there, and you’ll be well-equipped to have an amazing time.
